The Necessity Drive: Part 1

Hey everyone!

Our first ever Gold Star Girls Necessity Drive started Tuesday, February 18th and ended today, Friday the 28th. We (Madison, Mariam, Hamna, and Zoe) started up the Necessity Drive at our school, Hutchison School, to benefit boys and girls in the Vance Avenue Youth Development Center (VADYC), the same center in which GSG happens every other Saturday. The drive called for all donations of hygiene products such as soap, body wash, body lotion, deodorant, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and feminine hygiene products, everything that the center is in need of. We actually made the drive into a competition as to who can get the most points for each product they bring, and the competition was among each advisory in our high school. Of course, we had to have a prize to motivate everyone, and the prize was a pizza party with toppings and drinks of the advisory's choice! The winner will receive the pizza party on Wednesday and the runner ups will receive snacks and Capri Suns on Wednesday as well! Overall, we received around 300 products, ensuring that VAYDC will be fully supplied for the year ahead. Shout out to Mr. Lofton and all of his Irish Spring soaps! Tomorrow, we will decorate the boxes and travel to VADYC for our third session, and before our session, we will give Ms. Barbara the 14 boxes full of products. It's going to be exciting!
